Looking Back
While there are many lessons yet to be learned in life, and many more places to go, I'm grateful for the experiences I've had thus far. The Global Learning Program is an excellent endeavor for those who wish to be involved, acquire knowledge, and ultimately mature. One lesson that I wish to share with others and stress the most, is do not travel to a place and rob yourself of an experience by staying in a resort or going to a tourist trap attraction. Go out, go somewhere local, MEET someone local. Sit down have a few beers and get to know people. You'll quickly learn we are less different than we perceive each other to be, and the things that make us unique are even more interesting. Educating yourself through academia is essential and may stay with us but embracing different cultures and experiencing their beauty will always leave a lasting impression. Through this program I feel I have honed my skill of interpersonal interaction. Being able to connect with people and understand them, and possibly use that understanding in a positive manner, is something I aspire to continue to do in my endeavors later in life.
